The return of the Jeep Cherokee within the new Jeep lineup has been a much talked about topic here at our Cheshire area dealership. One question has remained unclear since the new model was announced, and that's where will it be positioned in terms of price? Chrysler Group recently stated that it plans to aggressively price the new model, staring it at only $22,995 plus a $995 destination fee. This puts the Cherokee $400 lower than the starting price of the compact crossover, Jeep Liberty, which it will be replacing.

Speaking highly of the model, CEO of Jeep brand, Mike Manley proclaims, "The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee is entering the largest SUV segment in North America with an unmatched combination of capability, fuel efficiency, technology, safety and value. Jeep Cherokee is absolutely packed with content that includes numerous industry and segment 'firsts.'"1

The new Cherokee offers greater fuel economy over the Liberty thanks partly to its new nine-speed automatic transmission. Adding to its efficiency ratings are the compact SUV's two engine options: a 3.2-liter version of Chrysler's Pentastar V-6 engine and a new Fiat-designed 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 four-cylinder engine. This new powerplant is estimated to improve fuel economy ratings by 45 percent over the Liberty model. To round it out, there are three advanced four-wheel drive packages and "trail rated" variants paying tribute to the brands renown off-road capabilities.

The new Jeep Cherokee will ship sometime this fall baring no production delays. Be one of the first to test drive the new compact SUV in the Berkshire area by staying connected to our blog for further updates.
