Grand Wagoneer engine options include a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8. Both engines are available with a four-wheel drive system. The Grand Wagoneer has a towing capacity of 7,000 pounds when properly equipped. Differentials are available with a locking feature for increased traction in difficult terrain. The suspension is designed for a smooth ride, even when towing a heavy load. An optional air ride suspension adds to the comfortable ride one can expect from the Grand Wagoneer.
The Grand Wagoneer was the first to feature Quadra Trac 1, which provided a single-speed transfer case and full-time four-wheel drive. The basic Selec-Mode Terrain Management system, which is available on the base Grand Wagoneer model, features a two-speed transfer case and a terrain management system that allows the driver to choose between four driving modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud. The differentials and suspension options also play a role in the Grand Wagoneer's ability to handle difficult terrain.
