We love pickup trucks here, but that doesn’t mean they’re all created equal. Pickup trucks are among the most popular vehicles of all time, and manufacturers know it’s time to put their money where their mouth is and provide stellar products. You can expect a stellar experience when you look for a Ram 2500 for sale. We’ve put together a buyer’s guide for you today to teach you everything you should know before you pick out your truck, so let’s get going!
Powertrains
The 2025 Ram 2500 is available with two powertrains. Both engines are matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is an upgrade over last year’s Ram 2500, where its optional diesel-powered engine was paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The first of the two powertrains has a 6.4L HEMI V8 gasoline engine that outputs 405 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. It retains its predecessor’s impressive maximum towing capacity of 17,730 lbs, and its payload capacity received an 11% uptick, rising from 4,000 lbs to 4,440 lbs.
The second powertrain has seen a sizable leap in horsepower and torque output over the 2024 model. It’s a worthy successor, especially with the aforementioned transmission upgrade. The 2025 Ram 2500 outputs 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque with the new 6.7L Cummins High Output turbo-diesel I-6 engine, which replaced the standard-output turbo-diesel I-6 from before.
Upgrading to the new engine allows the 2025 Ram 2500 to proudly boast 16% more horsepower and 26% greater torque throughput than the 2024 model. Equipping your Ram with this new engine gives you maximum towing and payload capacities of 19,950 lbs and 3,150 lbs, respectively. Throw your favorite tow hitch on, and you’re ready to go.
Bed Sizes
Behind every truck cab is a bed to hold large items. You’d expect a heavy-duty truck to excel in this field, with spacious beds providing plenty of cargo space, and you’d be correct to do so. The 2025 Ram 2500 is everything you’d want and more from a heavy-duty truck.
The 2025 Ram 2500 has a minimum bed length of 6.4 feet, which delivers a respectable 57.5 cu.ft. of cargo space. However, upgrading to the larger bed increases its length to 8.2 feet. The truck makes excellent use of this extra length, with a 30% cargo space increase to 74.7 cu.ft. for those who invest in it.
Your 2025 Ram 2500 can feature available under-floor cargo containers known as In-Floor Storage Bins in the rear footwells for the Crew Cab and Mega Cab. A separate cargo compartment is also available for Crew Cab and Mega Cab models if you lift the bench seat in the back. This cargo space is separate from the bed’s listed space, meaning your truck can hold even more than you may have thought. Lastly, Crew Cab and Mega Cab trucks have standard folding rear seats, perfect for loading and transporting cargo.

Cab Sizes
The Crew Cab and Mega Cab provide a sizable interior that seats a maximum of six people, including you. The extra space given by the second row of seats makes them more sustainable for cargo. This is especially true with the aforementioned storage upgrades available exclusively for these two cab sizes.
The Regular Cab doesn’t have a second row of seats, meaning it lacks the floor space for the extra cargo. However, it’s perfect for anyone looking for a truck with no more than three seats. A bench is standard, and captain’s chairs, which limit the seating capacity to two, are optional. Regardless of the size difference, it still offers a roomy and comfortable interior. These front-row captain’s chairs are also available on the Crew Cab and Mega Cab.
The front-row legroom measurements are the same across the three cab styles: 40.9 inches. The Crew Cab and Mega Cab also have 40.9 inches of front-row headroom. But this is reduced by about an inch to 39.8 inches with the Regular Cab.
The Crew Cab and Mega Cab have different rear headroom and legroom—the Mega Cab is larger and even allows for reclining rear seats thanks to the extra interior room. Crew Cab models have 39.8 inches of rear headroom and 40.2 inches of rear legroom. Mega Cab models have 40.3 inches of rear headroom and 43.1 inches of rear legroom. Aside from rear-seat amenities and the additional cargo bays, the Regular Cab provides the rest of the 2025 Ram 2500 experience. Let’s dive a bit deeper into what that experience looks like.
Seating
Buying the Tradesman or Big Horn trim gives your 2025 Ram 2500 four-way manually adjustable driver and front passenger seats. The Big Horn allows you to upgrade to an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way power lumbar support for your lower back, but this isn’t available for the Tradesman. What is available for the Tradesman are the four-way front headrests that come standard with the Big Horn—two-way front headrests are standard otherwise. The Big Horn also has available heated seats.
Upgrading to the Laramie adds standard heated front seats and available heated second-row seats. This trim has high-back seats with two-way headrests that aren’t available on the Tradesman or Big Horn. The Laramie also makes the eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and associated lumbar support standard, and it’s the first trim on the list to introduce an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat with two-way power lumbar support.
The upgraded front-row passenger seat is standard with the Limited and Limited Longhorn but is an available upgrade for the Power Wagon and Rebel trims. These latter two trims also introduce available ventilated front seats. Both the ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats come standard with the Limited Longhorn and Limited trims.
Infotainment Centers
The 2025 Ram 2500 is available with three Uconnect 5 infotainment center options. All three come with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, and several other features. However, the infotainment center in your 2025 Ram 2500 might be one of three screen sizes, with the larger two having built-in Ram turn-by-turn navigation software.
The smallest infotainment center for the 2025 Ram 2500 isn’t “small,” as the base touchscreen measures a respectable 8.4 inches. This infotainment center comes standard with the Tradesman and Big Horn, but you can swap it for an available Uconnect 5 Nav system with a vibrant 12-inch touchscreen display. This upgraded infotainment center comes standard with the Laramie, Power Wagon, and Rebel, although these three trims support the available brilliant 14.4-inch variant of the Uconnect 5 Nav infotainment center. Continuing the trend of upgrades, the Limited Longhorn and Limited come standard with this top-end infotainment system.
Your 2025 Ram 2500 has an integrated 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot you can activate with a data plan. HD Radio is available on the Tradesman and Bighorn, as is Amazon Alexa Built-In. These are both standard on every other trim. The same goes for the steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, so you never need to take your hands off the wheel to flip through songs or adjust your volume.

Speakers
Listening to music or podcasts while driving is a given, and the 2025 Ram 2500 has many options regarding speaker systems. The Tradesman has the most basic system that includes four speakers, but an additional two are available. This six-speaker setup is standard on the Big Horn, Power Wagon, and Rebel. An in-house premium speaker solution is available for the Big Horn, with an included amplifier, but the Power Wagon and Rebel kick things up a notch with an available Alpine Audio System, featuring nine speakers and an included subwoofer to give bass channels a proper punch. This speaker system is standard with the Laramie.
We’re not done yet—the audio can be improved even further. The Laramie, Power Wagon, and Rebel have an available high-end Harman Kardon 17-speaker audio system, outmatching everything else with enriched sound. This speaker system is standard on the Limited Longhorn and Limited trims, which helps make these trims feel even more premium out of the gate.
