Proving once again that performance and respectable fuel economy needn't be mutually exclusive, rugged American automaker, RAM, has announced the final EPA estimates for its 2013 RAM 1500 HFE.

The new RAM truck which comes with a rear-wheel drivetrain, heavy-duty 5.7-liter V8 engine and eight-speed auto transmission is an exciting addition to the new RAM lineup. And, with RAM releasing the EPA estimated ratings for its sibling model, the RAM 1500 4WD with HEMI and eight-speed transmission, just over a month ago, we at Bedard Bros. Chrysler Jeep Dodge were eager to find out how the 1500 HFE would be rated.

And, now we know and can share with our Cheshire area readers that the 2013 RAM 1500 HFE will be able to achieve 15 mpg, city, and 22 mpg, highway all leading to a combined rating of 17. The numbers aren't yet available on the official EPA website, but the RAM truck company has announced that they are final, so we'll take its word on that one.

So, what do these numbers mean?

For starters it means that the RAM 1500 HFE is right on par with competitors offerings including those from rival American automakers like the one with the F-Series. It will certainly be interesting to see how many drivers in Berkshires and beyond end up choosing the new RAM truck over others.
